Questions about Sock Loom

The sock loom has arrived and we think we have the basics except for one thing. It says to measure the widest part of the foot (we're assuming circumference) and multiply it by the gauge 7. Does this mean that if we measure 10 inches we then multiply by 7 to get 70? It was just a bit confusing.

Sorry I meant 60 pegs. After you multiply you have to subtract 15%. The way I figure it out I use the tip calculator on my phone. I put in the 70 and 15% tip that gave me 10.50. I subtracted the 10.50 from the 70 and got 59.5 and rounded it to nearest # 60. Hope it helps.
